Villa castro

When my clients bought Villa Castro it had been newly restored by AP & Jens Bruenslow. An award-winning restoration project that included a beautiful extension. The house itself had not yet been lived in since the restoration, so I was brought in by my clients as the interior designer, to give it a more personal touch and make it their future home.

Upon entering the villa I was in awe; the extension by AP & Jens Breunslaw was impeccable – the volumes created, the delicate use of materials and the way these complemented the original architecture was so inspiring – I knew that any interventions/additions I made to the place had to respect and reflect their approach and work. My main focus was on the older part of the house, one of the main things I wanted to tackle was to create a more seamless transition from the new modern extension to the older part of the building.

The purposeful choice of wall panelling, furniture, patterns and colours in the entrance and dining room offer a more traditional contemporary look. As one moves into the living room and kitchen surrounding the courtyard, my design approach was intentionally minimalist and modern, keeping in mind that from these areas one can enjoy views of APs iconic intervention, the extension to the villa.
